Studentparlamentet
About the Student Parliament
The Student Parliament (SP) is the highest elected body for students at UiO. Students have the right to participate in decision-making on all student-related matters at the University of Oslo.
The Student Parliament meets about once a month, and the meetings are open to everyone. There are 28 representatives in the Student Parliament. Everyone has the opportunity to raise issues for the Student Parliament, and we are obligated to follow up on the decisions made.
The Student Parliament elects six people to work full-time in an executive committee. They work on preparing issues for discussion and implementing the adopted policies.
The Executive Committee is the face of the Student Parliament, handling everything from media relations to answering questions and assisting with whatever you, as a student, might need help with. They are located at Villa Eika, the old Swiss-style villa next to the University Library, and they always appreciate it when someone stops by!
Elections to the Student Parliament
Elections to the Student Parliament take place through list voting each spring semester. All students at UiO can run for election on a list or start their own list. The lists function as political parties at UiO. The elected representatives then select a new executive committee at the parliament's inaugural meeting at the end of the spring semester. All students registered for the semester at UiO have the right to vote in the election.
The next election will take place in the spring of 2025. Information about the election will be published on our website and on our social media.
