1. Student grant above the poverty line:
Students are working more and more and have less time for their studies, many have to skip lectures to go to work. Housing prices in Oslo are far too high and students are being pushed further away from campus. Food prices are digging an ever-larger hole in students' wallets. Many students no longer have the same opportunity to enjoy their studies as they have had before. We believe that student support is too low to ensure students a dignified period of study, and will therefore work to increase the student grant to 2.5 times the basic amount in the National Insurance Scheme.
2. Academic boycott of Israel:
Israeli academia is complicit in the Israeli state's occupation and genocide in Palestine. Israeli universities collaborate closely with the Israeli Defence Forces and the Israeli arms industry. Critical voices from both Palestinian and Israeli students and researchers are being severely suppressed. We demand that UiO immediately end all cooperation with higher education institutions in Israel. We will not participate in genocide.
3. Trust in students in the face of AI:
UiO does not prepare students well enough in the face of the development of artificial intelligence, and students often end up bearing the brunt of the lack of knowledge. Fewer home exams in favor of school exams create challenges for students who no longer have access to sources during exams. At the same time, more school exams put extra pressure on the university's capacity. We will work to ensure that students are met with more trust and receive better teaching opportunities about artificial intelligence.
Who are we
The Leftist Alliance is a socialist and feminist organization. We are represented in the Student Parliament at UiO and the Welfare Council of Oslo and Akershus, and we engage in activism. We fight for a fair university that is tailored to the needs of students and a good everyday life that students can afford. We should have good and cheap food and enough student housing that is not so expensive that they add to the already long list of worries.
The planet can’t wait! That is why we always demand environmental standards, whether it concerns food, housing or university agreements.
We want a more inclusive curriculum and the curriculum must be cheaper and be more digitalized.
